Lesson 3: Usage of Verbs
Now that you know or have at least seen a bunch of verbs and can conjugate them, I show you how to use them a little better.
With Base 1 words you can add
-nai to make it the plain form negative(I will not...) and
-nakatta past tense negative(I did not)
Base 2 add
-masu for the polite prent/ future tense and
-mashita polite past tense and
-masen for the polite negative and
-masendeshita for the polite form past negative and
-tai for I want to...
Base 3 stays the same all the time.
Base 4
-ba for the if verb. (ex tabereba -> If (noun) would just eat.) and
-ru ( Godan verbs only) the plain form can verb. (ex. tabereru -> (noun) can eat ). The verb is now an Ichidan verb.) and
-masu polite can verb(like above) but can be used on Godan verbs
Base 5
-suru to try verb.
Base te
-hoshii the want someone else to... verb and
-kudasai polite command and
-iru added when you want to say you are currently doing the verb.
-imasu polite form of above
Base ta
-ra if and when I (verb) and
-risuru to do things such as...
